God is the only one that protects the man. the men are unselfish and humble. they had a strong sense in heroic pride which is in the christian values.God is the protector. A warrior must first be true to his values, courage, honesty, pride, and humility and only then will he earn God's protection.when about to fight Grendel's mother in her cave, Beowulf sees a great weapon hanging on the wall. But he does not take credit for this perception. The credit is given to God.

Beowulf is filled with Christian and pagan beliefs because of the time it was published. Everybody in this time believed that God was the only one who could protect them while they were fighting at war. The lake that Grendal live in was a piece of Christianity because it represents how many layers of hell there are.

Beowolf has both Christianity and pagan beliefs in it, some believe that Grendel is a product of Cane from the bible. God is there protector and the the lake from the story represents the 7 levels of hell. They are very faithful to there god but are becoming very weak and scared of the monster. "Beware, those who are thrust into danger,Clutched at by trouble, yet can carry no solace In their hearts, cannot hope to be better! Hail To those who will rise to God, drop off Their dead bodies and seek our Father's peace." In my mind this is saying those who consume fear will lose faith and and in the afterlife they will not be granted eternal peace. They believed that the fate controlled their life's and they also believed In monsters, demons, dragons and also magic. They worshipped multiple gods.
